About Ginger
Ginger, or ginger root, is the rhizome of the ginger plant. It is in the ginger family, along with turmeric and cardamom. These are all native to Southeast Asia. There is no known wild ginger, only the domesticated plant that has been grown for thousands of years.
Ginger is used extensively in Indian food. We use it to make ginger-garlic paste, or add it to various masalas to add a little bit of kick. Ginger can be used fresh or as a powder.
