Whiskey
Whiskey found its way to India by way of scotch. In the 19th century, the grape industry of Europe was having difficulties due to a plant parasite (Phylloxera vastatrix). That led to a rise in popularity of Scotch whiskey, which was made from grains rather than grapes.
Other types of whiskey are also popular in India, such as Bourbon, which is distinctly American. Altogether, whiskey is the most imported alcoholic beverage into India.
