Chana

Chana are called chickpea or garbanzo bean in English. There are three types, desi chana, which has a black husk, kabuli chana which is yellow and found most often in Western cooking, and green chana. Desi chana is used to make besan and is the most common found in India. It has a much darker look, but is light colored inside and has a nuttier taste.
