Cranberry

Cranberries are native to the North East United States, and are also cultivated in Europe. They are closely associated with American Thanksgiving. Cranberries have a lot of pectins and a strong tart flavor. Although they can be used to add a sour note to soups and stews, they are most often cooked or baked with sugar to make jellies and pastries.
