Moringa (Drumsticks)
The moringa tree is native to India, and the name comes from a Tamil word, murungai, which means "twisted pod." The leaves are similar to the leaves of many legumes, and they form pods which are a great source of protein, but moringa are not nitrogen-fixing and are not part of the Fabaceae (legume) family.
Moringa are generally eaten for their seed pods, called "saragva ni sing" in Gujarati, or "drumsticks" in English. The leaves and flowers are also edible and can be used to make a healthy, Ayurvedic tea.
