Simple Pea Saute (Vatana nu Shaak)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced pole to pole
  • 1 tsp carom seeds cumin seeds or mustard seeds work too
  • ½ tsp red chili powder or to taste
  • ¼ tsp salt or to taste
  • 2 tsp oil

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a saute pan. When the oil begins to shimmer, add the carom, cumin or mustard seeds. Let cook for about 5 seconds.
  • Add the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook until the onions soften and start to caramelize.
  • Add the peas and a splash of water. Also add the chili powder and salt. Stir.
  • Let cook for about 5 minutes until the peas are cooked through.

Notes

Serve with your choice of flat bread.
